Directions

Step 1

If you are using fresh string beans, clean them chopping both ends off, rinse and boil in salted water for about 10 minutes.  Drain.  If you are using frozen string beans go straight to the next step.

Step 2

In a skillet heat olive oil on medium-high heat and add garlic & basil, let everything flavor the oil for a minute.  Add the string beans and stir very fast, trying to coat them with the oil.  Cook on high heat for a couple of minutes.  Cover and reduce heat. Let it cook for about 10 minutes stirring occasionally.  Uncover and let cook another minute or so.  Your dish is now ready.  Add slivered almonds if desired.

Ingredients for four

  • 1 lb. good quality frozen or fresh string beans
  • 1 tsp. or more of dry basil
  • 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 Garlic cloves, chopped
  • chili pepper, minced (optional)
  • sea salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp slivered almonds if desired
